Production Processes

At Coatings USA our founding principal was best stated by the great Bear Bryant “Make something happen.” We use this daily in our approach to educate, collaborate, and operate with our clients. Building open lines of communication helps to bypass many common roadblocks and creates the desired finish on any project — large or small. You will quickly discover why world-class companies trust CUSA with their finishing needs.

Inspection

CUSA’s rigorous inspection process allows the opportunity to determine all inbound parts are physically and visually processed for any and surface abnormalities including rust, corrosion, marks, scratches in the substrate, other marring or damage resulting either from shipping or manufacturer processes. Checking for missing hardware and tag any deficient parts to be held until the client can be notified to authorize further processing.

Pre-Inspection

Coatings USA’s process integrates innovative, and advanced methods from the start regardless of final finish. All parts are inspected for any and all surface abnormalities including rust, corrosion, marks, and scratches in the substrate, other marring or damage resulting either from shipping or earlier processing before being placed into production. We also check for missing hardware, fabrication inconsistencies, and tag any deficient parts to be held until the customer can be notified to authorize further processing.

Pre-Treatment

Coatings USA offers advanced corrosion resistant pre-treatment services. Depending on the unique processing need and product finish specifications. Using high performance cleaners and rinse solutions to yield enhanced adhesion for both ferrous and non-ferrous products. Our standard for many substrates includes our 5 stage pre-treatment wash, mil-spec standard chemical conversion coating (clear and/or gold), and media blasting. Coatings USA operates a 20’ x 20’ x 20’ in house media blasting room, and offers meticulous hand sanding for custom work and other special finishing requirements.

Pre-finish Inspection

Following the pre-treatment process, we carefully inspect all parts, materials, and products. Anything that might interfere with finish quality is fully attended to before the part enters into the final finishing stage. All areas subject to masking and plugging are reviewed and completed to ensure the parts remain free of finish. Overall surface quality and wear performance inspection is performed to preserve final finish integrity.

We feel that to provide a remarkable finish on any product, the key is in the level of detail work done within the prepping stages.

Finishes

We offer production and custom powder coating, production and custom Mil-Spec painting, liquid Chemical, and Industrial Coatings.

Powder Coating

Oven curing calibrations are done periodically throughout the year using a data-pack temperature recorder. These recorders provide information on ambient and actual metal temperatures to ensure that our powder coatings are optimally cured. Part curing schedule varies depending on the substrate being processed and ranges from 350 degrees Fahrenheit to 525 degrees Fahrenheit.
